you can create moist lips, tears, ect. by using secrist babytears, also known as paper glaze. you can order from secrist, or find it in a craft store, but i haven't seen it anywhere yet. you can apply it with the pointed tip or use a paint brush. it dries faster than glue if you put it on thin, but if you want it thick, i would put it on in layers to keep it from turning a white-ish color. i'm sorry i'm giving a lot of information, but i just started using it for the first time, i don't want you to make the same mistakes. happy reborning!
I use either the paper glaze or sometimes I'll just use the high gloss that came with my paints. Thats what I used when I started. The same way Ivy suggested, a thin brush on the lips, eye lids if you desire and for the corners and nose a sharp pointed brush.
Audrey, I also use the Aleene's Paper Glaze, and have found it at places like Michael's and JoAnn's Fabrics. I use the Aleene's Paper Glaze when I want a highly wet-looking and shiny finish like inside the mouth, around the eyes to resemble wet tears, etc. I almost never use it on the nails as I think it makes my babies look less real. Remember all of this is my opinion on my dolls. There may be times when you will want a high gloss finish.
Sometimes you want less of a shine--especially if you don't want the baby to look like it's sick and has a runny nose. I use the heat set Genesis glaze or the Authentic Reborn glaze that Secrist sells (http://secristdolls.com/inc/sdetail/56714) . It is a subtle gloss and looks more natural to me.
Hope this helps!
