hi i need help how to get the doll skin looking so really i hand 2 doll kit i mess up on them how to get them look so really each time my dolls look to white not really at all what can i do fix this get it right thank you jenny
Without a picture it's hard to know what your asking. However if you baby is white and pasty looking you can always add red blushing to give it some color along with maybe some additional flesh tones for add depth. There's alot of different coloring you can add as well, blue and purple undertones, birth marks ect. Hope this helps and good luck!

hi tine thank you so brith mark those 2 clores what ones do i use to get the white doll kit look so really life like doll can you help me with that i use heat paint do i use fleash 08-felsh 07 let me no what i need do jenny
Tina has given some great advice. There are many, many many coloring choices for babies. You can attain depth by applying a darker color in the baby's creases, adding veins, using the internal purple wash if the doll kit is translucent, and especially by applying your blush color.
For a llighter skinned caucasion baby, Flesh 08, Flesh 07, or a combination seem to work best as a foundation color.
I recommend following a tutorial or directions in a book when you work on your first few baby dolls. If you need to purchase these, Secrist has them available on the Secrist Dolls website. Go to SecristDolls.com and click on the "Learn, Teach & Sell" link to find these online.
At the very least, you might consider purchasing the Help Charts. You can find these under the "Doll Kits & Reborning Supplies" link.
I hope this helps!

They are right. Also, trying to create a real looking baby can be difficult if you don't have any of our DVD's to learn with. For beginners I suggest our Newborning 1 & 2 or the beginner classroom training DVD: http://www.secristdolls.com/inc/sdetail/2736 is newborning 2 (the one on using your Genesis paints). I think Secrist is out of dvd #1 and also the beginner classroom dvd at the moment. If you would like the newborning 1 dvd I do have it in stock if you'd like to purchase it. You can e-mail me at buffington@secristdolls.com. And I do accept paypal. I will check on the other dvd's and see when they'll get them in.
I know Mr Secrist said my babies were a little light too but I told him where I live in MN that we're all Norweigans lol. I did darken them up some by starting with the base of flesh 07 instead of 08. Then I added the 08 for highlights. As Linda pointed out the painted creases will also make a difference.
So let me know what you decide and post links (not actual pictures) in this thread so we can see just what you are talking about. :)
okay i send you some phto i have the frist dvd you can email me at jenny892009@live.com thank you jenny email i send you some phtos how can i reborn just dolls jenny
Jenny, can you put links to your pictures in this topic so we can see what is going on with your dolls? It would make it easier. I would e-mail you but would like the others in forum to know also what we are telling you so to help them too. Where are you from? What language to you speak? Maybe there is someone near you that will have a class so you can see how to make the dolls so they look more real. :)
enlish it would let me put the phtos up her can i just email them to you thanks jenny do you bake your dolls or use a heat gun on them what is the best clore to use on blushing let me no every time i use flesh clore after i bake them they truen like white chalk on a bord can you tell me what goning on with thanks jenny
Jenny, I see some stock photos of dolls on your website, but I don't see any of your dolls. Maybe you can get the person who is handling your website to post some photos for you. It is really impossible to advise you about your dolls without seeing them in person.
Your website says you are located in Ohio. There are so many advantages to taking a reborning class. You have someone available for immediate feedback and suggestions. Secrist has a page on his website with advertisements from reborning instructors. Try looking there to see if any of the teachers are located near you. http://www.secristdolls.com/reborning_teachers
The other suggestion is to look at utube. I think there are quite a few short video tutorials on various aspects of the art. Sometimes it helps to see someone doing the activity rather than just reading about it in a book or in a forum.
Again... Pat Buffington suggested some DVDs in one of her posts. I would definitely pursue her advice.
Reborning dolls is an expensive art form. The doll kits and supplies cost money, and there is a huge investment of the artist's time to make a beautiful realistic looking baby. Most importantly, it is vital that the artist take the time to learn the art through classes, instructional materials, and practice. The best kit, mohair, and paints are worthless if the artist does not learn the correct way to use them.
I hope I have given some suggestions that will help you more than this forum alone.

Go ahead and send me what you have for photos. E-mail them to buffington@secristdolls.com. I'll see what I can tell you from there but as Linda said, it's hard to tell you without seeing them. If your dolls are white like chalkboard then you have used too much paint. There are lots of questions and answers in our forum on the chalkies. Check them out. Mostly in painting and misc chatter.
