evileyefuriousfuriousMy son took a black pen and drew over every limb and head of my doll.  I havent started to paint her yet though.  I used some acitone what else will help get it out.  The acetone lightned it up a bit but it is still on to were it would be noticable.

Hand sanitizer works for sharpie? I hope so cause I have a leg with a name written in sharpie on it. I am going to try that right now!

Nope doesn't work on permanent marker! Oh well I will just keep trying things. I am not ready to do that kit anyway. Plus it's only a practice kit!

For ink on doll vinyl...
Use an acne cream with benzoil peroxide. Put the cream on the ink heavy. Some cover it with clear plastic wrap some don't. Leave for 20-48 hrs, wipe off and check. If the ink is still there do it again. A few said they set the part in the sun but I'm not so sure about that.

Hope this helps.

I've tried Pat's suggestion and it worked for me.  I found a reference to using acne cream online at http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf424232.tip.html.  Good luck!

wow thanks alot guys I wlll try that.  How do you know all this stuff?  I think the same person that told me about the pen also helped me out a lot about the over blushing I did.  I think I have to buy more dvd's to show me more of the way.  My next challange would have to be rooting.  Something I hope looks good when I am done.  Because it looks like it will take a long time.  Thanks again

I guess we know by trial and error, just like everyone else. We also listen to what our forumers have to say when they have issues and I search the forum to see what is in here that I can use. We've got lots of stuff in here :)!

We have some really good dvd's. My fav's are the beginner and advanced classroom ones. Also the Special reborn encyclopedia (but then my friend Danielle Zweers is in it teaching her reborning on the 6" triplets!

As far as rooting, Secrist has the rooting dvd with Stephanie Sullivan. Really good!! And yes, you are right... it might just take a long time to root (at least so it looks good) :)

I was looking at some tips on reborning on utube and I didn't know that you paint the doll with a skin color before you blush and highlight everything.  I might try that on my next doll , will that make it look more real.  Because the one doll I finished looked like a really good baby doll but not like a real baby.  Although when I brought her to work everyone was holding her and acting like it was a real baby and was amazed at how good a job I did.  But to me it was just ok compared to the ones that I see you guys do.  But I guess that I am my own worst critic.  But I always wanted a little girl and got two boys so at least I can make a doll to look like a little girl.  My little three year old says "Mommy I love her" about my doll that makes me feel good.  He starts talking to it like it's a real baby.  My Husband just loves that.  I saw some of the DVD's on secrest doll making at my local hobby store so on payday I think I might pick up a fewbiggrin

Thanks for all of you help maybe one day I will put a photo of a finished doll that I like up for my photo

Yes, I guess if you are a real newbie you might not have known that you usually put a base fleshtone on the doll first. In that case might I suggest definately the beginner classroom dvd! Or even newborning I or II? You will get all the basics of the "Secrist method" of newborning your doll kit. We suggest them as a starting point for basic techniques and then you can jump off from there and learn from other places too.
They came out with some of their items at the local Hobby Lobby (we don't have them here in Minn.) so I'm not quite sure what's there.

You'll be really surprised how your doll turns out once you learn from Secrist dvd's!!

Acne cream? Hmm I never hear that but will keep it in mind, I had a similar problem. A doll I bought had a mark on it. I was lucky enough that I was able to cover it.

I use acne cream, and set it in the sun, the ultra violet rays seem to help it along. Also, my daughter said Napisan, soak it in it in water in the sun. Haven't tried that, but she swear by it. Her daughter was always scribbleing on her dolls. XXXXX June.

June, I've never heard of Napisan.  Do you know what sort of substance it is?  What is is normally used for?  I tried to do a search for it on the internet but didn't come up with anything.

In answer to your question "What is Napisan" in Australia and New Zealand it is a product for washing/soaking babies nappies in, also used for general use in the washing machine to get stains out of the general clothes.
