ahhh..you are doing Jody right?  I bought her from someon that did her and I just love her so much.   I think you have done really well.  You know I'm sure the very first painting leonardo did wasn't just perfect, but heck, I think your Jody looks as good as mine does and mine has fooled a lot a people.  She almost caused a riot in Home Town Food store.  Mine has just a little blonde hair...very little on her head...just enough to make a couple of curls, yet she's just wonderful to me.  She's not mottled or anything,,,just got that look of a little bit older baby..like maybe 7 months.. and that's a nice skin age.  Mine has the brandy arims and legs and a doe suede skin body...maybe from BB.  I'm not sure if it's your lighting, but it looks like her right arm and leg is lighter than the left one????  But that could be lighting.  I think she looks adorable and I can see some variations in her skin coloring in her face.  You would kno want to see my first doll.  It took a long time before mine got better and I still can mess up.  lol  Avivaashamed

Place her on a white back ground so we can get a true colour image, it may be our computers, but another tip, dont leave her on plastic with writing on or you will end up with the print from the plastic bags and paper on her limbs. XXXX June.

She's you first reborn, and for your first I think you've done rather well. Reborning in a learning and growing process. Each doll you paint will develop a new unique technique for realism.

People have to realize that their first baby may not look like anything as a first is the most difficult to do for most people. As was said above, it takes time to develop techniques and such. She looks pretty good for your first but if you don't like the way the skin turned out you may want to do a color correction layer (this info is in this topic thread) and tone her down a little. Or maybe take your 2 flesh colors and do a motteling layer with those over what you have already done.

Are you paints thinned to a watercoloring consistency? You layers should be subtle not obvious. You don't want to put on the paint too thick. You'll know the paint is going on if you see tiny pin tye dots when you pounce on your paints.

Have you tried applying more blush? It's always better to add to then to start out with too much reds. Try applying a bit more blush.

well if you do tend to over blush you can neutralize a bit however if you getting very little coloring now, then I can't see you over blushing just by adding another layer. A picture might help so I could see what your seeing. When I thin my paints, I take a clean white paper towel and swipe it with my paint brush to see the consistency of my paint. This way you can see if it looks too dark or too light. Help me judge the transparency of my blush that I'm looking for in the baby I'm working on at the moment. Hope that makes sense :)

Lynn-
Don't lose hope. If this is really something you want to try you have to remember reborning is trial and error with lots of room for growth. We've all been where you are now. You can't expect a perfect baby esp your first time out. Look over your dvd again and give it another try without being so hard on yourself this time.
Best of Luck

Lynn, it would also help to know exactly which paints you have... the original genesis, the new authentic reborn paints, the high pigment paints... which ones did you order hun?

The new authentic reborn paints DO NOT need any thinner so if those are the ones you have hun and you add thinner you are making them too thin. You can only thin down the pigment so much (genesis recommends only 40% thinner with the original ones). And I am speaking of not only the genesis straight colors but also the genesis pre-mixed petites here hun.

So let us know the ones you have. if you're not sure just look on your sales slip that came with your order. It has been very confusing for some of the newbies with the many paints to choose from. Don't give up, we're here to help you! At least you do have a dvd to help you, some are just flying blind with no dvd to learn the basics. Hang in there hun!!
