There is an internal wash and is shown how to use it on the Secrists Newborning 11 Painting with Genisis Heat set Paints, it is a great way to learn how to use and mix paints. XXXX June.

The blue (or periwinkle) internal wash from Secrist is to show the blue-ish undertones of a real babies skin. The Secrist kits are made especially translucent and they strongly suggest the internal wash for realism and depth.

When I do other maker's kits, I don't use the internal wash because they are not translucent enough and don't usually need it. So I would put a very thin blue type paint on the bridge of the nose, a little under the eyes where the skin is thin, and some behind the ears at the botton of the skull where it's soft.

I live in the U.K.
I've just ordered my first Secrist doll (Jamie).
I'm a art teacher and don't really have a problem mixing colours, but I looked all over the internet for periwinkle blue to do the internal wash and have had no luck.

Could I use Genesis phthato blue 03? Do I thin it down with thinner ? confuse

what do you suggest?

You get periwinkle blue by mixing the phth blue 3 and dioxide purple #4. These colors are usually in the starter kits. Hope this helps.

I just received my first Secrist kit as well. I've done over thirty kits and this is my first secrist. Go figure... LOL. I picked Zoe, I got an excellent deal on her with the 3/4 limbs. I just couldn't pass her up, plus It was also about time I did a secrist kit. Long over due.

Zoe is a very nice kit to paint, I have done her and sold her on ebay, she is on my website. I named her Summer Rose. I'm sure you will love doing her too. I belong to an Aust forum as well where we are doing a mothers day swap, I sent her Zoe and she has finished her and posted pics, she looks lovely also. I have been a bit slack, as I like working under stress ,but I have started. She is Apink baby with dark features, so I am painting my Starlight from Secrits and hers at the same time. First time doing an AA baby. I hope she loves her. Am taking pictures along the way. Will post some when they are finished. XXXXXX June.

You can order the perwinkle blue internal wash right from Secrist. It's actually their mix. Mostly Dioxazine purple, a little phtalo blue, and a dash of white. Mix really really well.

I'm glad you are getting a Secrist. Their vinyl is really great! And I love the translucency! Post some pics in the artist showcase when you can :)

Ang31, what kit is that in your avatar? I think that espression is just so adorable and you have done it so well! Please tell us what sculpt that is? :) PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE HUH HUH??? ;)
