Well I finally got my new baby today and have started painting her. Just set the first coat of flesh color and I was looking at her and a thought came to mind, what color should her tongue be? All the babys here at SD.com (with the exception of a couple) have closed mouths... my little one is yawning and I want to be sure I get it right. Any advice please?
Well... mostly they have the same color tongue as their flesh, just a little deeper. And you will want to use the baby tears on it for moistness when you are done with painting. Just look at your own tongue and find some babies to look at lol.
Some put lighter spots of color on them for the taste buds. Some line the outer rim with a slightly color. I've not done a tongue but I will be when I get Danielle Zweers new Isabeau kit next month. So I'm checking out real babies tongues. Good luck! :)
LOL thanks! After my kids got up this morning (3 and 1 1/2 yrs old). I told them to stick out their tongues, it was a fun experiment lol. I'm using the strawberry complextion paints and waiting for a few more in the mail. After seeing some other pics of real babies and stuff I'm going to try mixing flesh with a VERY TINY pin head sized amount of blush and see what color it comes up with. I know I need more paints and they are coming in the mail hopefully this week. I'll post pics in the work in progress area today sometime as I am quite pleased with the results so far. Thanks again!
I bet they really thought you were silly actually asking them to stick out their tongues eh? Usually mom's are telling kids to put their tongues back in their mouths. hehehe lol
Don't forget... you can only post "pics" in the artist showcase you know. Otherwise if you want to post a pic elsewhere be sure to make it a link instead. :)
Yeah I remember. I only post links for pics cause I always get the size too big for the screen. Links are safer that way for DSL users anyways. I touched up her complextion after looking at many pictures of my own kids when they were babies and I think I got her looking pretty good now. I think I'll need to stop before I mess her up. Next step, her one eye and eyelashes! Excited! Thanks again for the input!
