I'm a newbie, I've almost finished painting my first doll (Zoe) and so far, with the help of dvd's and lots of reading, I'm actually really pleased with the results!
My problem is that I've read so many different sites that I can't remember where I saw a demonstration for painting in the thin skin areas and although I know from a post a bit further down that I need a blue wash, I'm worried I'll pick the wrong blue from my box!
I have the premix set which contains periwinkle blue which I used for the internal wash and the veining blue... are either of these ok to use and do I thin it down to roughly the same as the internal wash!!
Welcome and glad you're here :) I love reading all the posts. Lots of people help make our forum a really informative place! You have to be really careful with the reds and the blues in the Genesis paints. They are the most highly pigmented of all and if you put them on too dark or don't get them off right away, you're almost stuck with that :(
I used the veining blue only very very very thin. And I only put it on the bridge of the nose and a little on the temples, dabbing it with my makeup sponge so it doesn't get too noticable. You want it to be very subtle. The color is supposed to look like it's just under the skin, a slight bluish, but not bruised looking.
