Medium Extender or Glazing Jell.

Hi,

I have the dvd Special Reborn Technique Ency. Part 1.   In Michelle's demonstration of dark skin ethnic baby's she shows mixing the paints with medium extender (at least that's what the label says)  but she says use glazing gel.    Also, the text that comes on the screen says use glazing gel.   I want to try her technique but I'm not sure which one to use.    Can someone clear this one up for me?

Also, I have another question of a different nature.   I am thinking about mixing plastic poly pellets with baby fat pellets.  Has anyone tried this?   I know the baby fat may react with silicone parts but the plastic pellets are not silicone.

Thanks for any help on these questions.

Frances

Everything I have read says "no" to baby fat pellets because they can cause a sticky mess once inside the doll.  I would only use poly-pellets or glass beads for weighting.  No sense in ruining all the hard work you put into making your baby.  Just my 2 cents.

OK, in reference to the extender, use extender not glazing gel. The glazing gel is a satiny finish to put on eyelids, lips and nails only. I'm sure she meant extender or thinning medium.

About the baby fat pellets: First of all it is NOT meant to be put in dolls (people just don't understand this part), I got this information from the "original" manufacturer.
Now, one thing... it is not just silicone that it can't touch, it's ANY vinyl, plastic, silicone, etc. As Julie said, it will become a mess. It cannot even so much as touch anything made from any of those things so I say do it at your own risk. I have seen the mess it makes. Drippy oily vinyl parts kind of turn to mush after a while. It may not happen for up to a year but it WILL happen so who wants to take that chance? Not me!

Wow,

Thank you for Buffington for this  information on both issues.     Gives me a whole different outlook on baby fat pellets.

Thanks Victoria

You are very welcome. PS... beware of those telling you that the "baby fat" that THEY sell is not the same kind or that THEIRS is safe. NOT NOT NOT! They probably got it from someone who bought it from someone else. They don't really know :o
