I'm so excited to be here and get started! I'm still in the research and practice, practice, practice, stage, and am starting simple (Berenguers) and working up to the lovely sculpts I've seen here. Y'all are amazing artists and I'm awed by the work I've seen.
Personally: I'm the mother of an adult daughter and a 16 year old son (and a dog and four cats and a hamster--can I count my husband here?); I've been an artist, crafter, embroiderer, voracious reader, handbag and troll doll collector for....oh...always!; am grossly overeducated (BA and MA in sociology, and almost an MLIS); and work as an advisor and assistant director for a Federally-funded TRiO program in a major university.
And now I hope to add "talented reborner" to all of the above!
Welcome Charlie! to our family forum. :) We're glad to meet you even if you are "over qualified" lol! That's quite some background you have there, and I'm right along with you. But we hope you come and contribute here as we all try to with our vast experiences and everything. As reborners we all keep right on learning and even learn some things from newbies mistakes (if they make any).
Hope you have had a chance to check out our rules and also the pic posting in artist showcase. When starting it's good to watch the DVD's we have so that you can ask questions that are not covered in them. We are here to "help", not to teach how, the dvds and publications do that. You can also post if you know something about the subject :)
Thank you for the lovely welcome! I'm going slow and just reading here, until I have something constructive to add, even if it's just "Holy crow, this didn't work, don't do it!" I'm *real* sure I'll make mistakes--but I've decided in advance that mistakes add character.....unless I really mess up and glue eyelashes across the eye or something equally horrifying.
I looked at your website--what gorgeous babies! I hope I can do a few half as good. Inspiration!
Hello and a warm welcome, I have been MIA, trying to download a couple of new babies but my computer seems to want to get stuch on the first pic, and so frustrated as I get, I have decided to give it a rest and check the forum. I have a few titles too. 1/ wife of one for 43 yrs ,2/ mother of 5(1 deceased) and 3/ Nana of 8. (3 IVF to 2 daughters.) But like Pat B. have been a Porcelain Doll Maker for over 20 yrs and have just ventured into reborning when we shifted. I am computer illiterate, and my best points are, sewing and so far a Multi Major Award winner in Porcelain Doll making. My reborn are of an OK standard but do need to work on Genesis Paints. I am not a good student as I am picture reader and can copy from them. I hope you enjoy the forum and your new friends as much as I do. June.
Welcome Charlie. There are so much wonderful information on this forum and everyone is super nice and very helpful not to mention very talented and have awesome ideas and tips. You'll love it here!
