Aout how many layers does it take for you (anyone) to get the look you desire? I have read that some do 6 to 8. Can you explain what you do each layer? How do you get paint on fingers and toes w/o it looking cakey?
Ireen, Are you using pre mixed or normal Genesis paints, I was doing Pheobe with the pre mixed and wasn't have that problem, I got the archival solvent and the AS one from oz, because they could post Secrists to me> It seem to be going on Ok, untill her neck cracked, but when I put the Matt varnish on, she seemed a bit rough but then that was my first time soI realy can't make a true judgement, we,ll have to wait untill Pat B gets on line. June M from Oz.
Just follow the directions either in the Art of Newborning I or II, or the Beginner Classroom DVD's. It will show you all you need to know. Then you can continue on using some of the techniques in forum or elsewhere online. Everyone has to have a place to start to learn the basics and then develope your own style from there..
I do anywhere from 4 layers to up to 16 depending on what paints I'm using (Strawberry or Peaches n cream or a full method newborn). Could be even more if the vinyl I'm using needs color correction and how much.
Best advice... Get the DVDs and watch them well. :)
Yes June, thin down the premixed also in the usual manner. Do NOT thin the lip color, it already is and should be used thinly right out of the container :)
No, there is no white or yellow tint in this method. If you are color correcting you add some of your correction color to your base color (flesh 07 or 08) and paint that on first. If you do not have to color correct then you just start with your base color and do 2 layers of that. Then continue on with the process. Also it depends on what ethnicity of a doll you are doing.
