I thought I better introduce myself. My real name is Billie, and I live in Adelaide, South Australia with hubby and cat.. the cat is the boss, we all know that. I am sooo new to reborning, its actually something I never wanted to get into, but as hubby says, I am a hobby collector, and that has brought me to this point. I have done a little sculpting for about a month, and the girls in the forum I was in didnt believe me when I showed them the pictures of my first baby sculpt...of course, after I killed him by painting him, I never showed the pictures again lol. But it did make me curious about baby sculpts. I have bought myself a Berenguer kit from an Aussie reseller, but Im too scared to take the next step. I bought the petite genesis paints and have a few tools. I pinched a dolly from my eldest grandson (he is only 4) and practised with my rerooting.
Im hoping one day to actually take a picture of my first reborn

Hello Billie, Welcome to the forum ,yes it is nice to know who is hiding we all welcome new reborners, and try our best to help solve problems. Acually I have a sister Called Billi, after a famous buck jump rider, My father used to ride horses with an amputated leg and won a lot of ribbons,So he got to name her. With the Berenguer, when you root the hair ,you need to use a sock with a cup of rice(dry) and heat it in the Microwave for three minutes. As it starts to go cool reheat or you will have broken needles. I broke 5 on each of my two Berenguers. The Secrists kits are a much softer yynal and the needles don't break as easy. Also you will probably need a body pattern, depending on which doll you got 1/4 arms and legs or full. Reborners don't seem to use the body you take off the doll, because then it isn't reborned. There is a topic at the beginning onhow to paint Rosie, her skin tones are lovely. June M from Oz Near Gympie QLD. PS >Send in a pic of your sculpt that you sent the other forum.
Hi June, thanks for the welcome. The kit I bought has the head, 3/4 limbs and a cloth body and the head is actually quite soft. I bought a rerootool from ebay for $10. I was very dubious about whether or not it would work, but Ive actually almost done a head of hair on my grandsons doll. The plastic is quite firm, and a lot firmer than my kit doll, but I will use the rice pack when that time comes, thankyou for the tip. Wow, your Dad sounds like quite a character! My husband keeps joking about getting a horse *sigh*. He had a major stroke 2 years ago, so he has a lot of time for thinking about things we will never do lol. My husband finds these dolls creepy, I wonder how many other hubbies feel that way?
I will look for the topic on Rosie, and also how to put up photos in the right place
