What is the difference?

Hey ladies,

Caling on your knowledge again as I am confused.  What is the difference between glazing gel and the Aileens paper glaze?  Does it do the same thing? I just ordered the Aileens and the matte varnish but now wonder if I should have gotten the glazing gel instead?

What is used on finger and toe nails?
What is used on the mouth?
Read somewhere about it being used on eyelids?

The Aileens does not bake but is it waterproof?

Do you bake both the matte varnish and the glazing gel or just one?

So confused! I have halted work on my second baby a Zoe sculpt until I find out if I need to do more baking when my supplies come. If I don't need to do any more then I can go on to rooting her hair tonight.

If you gals could point me off in the right direction that would be great.

Thanks so much :0)

Christie

k let me see if i can help hehehe aileens is used for the mouth , nails some use it on the eyelids it is waterproof when dry, glazing gel i havent used but i belive you use it the same way as aileens i have also heard that somtimes it doesnt give of a very good shine at all and that is the reason i have never used it and use aileens instead, you do bake the matte varnish and bake it a little longer than normal about 12 mins instead of 8 mins this makes sure it is heatset as it is a little thicker than the genesis paint when applied. hope this helps hun hopefuly somone will come along that uses the glazing gel (((hugs)))

Hi Christie,

i cant recommend the glaze gel from my experience, when i baked my glaze gel on baby's nails, lips there was no shine at all... i now use the aileens paper glaze thanks to T.E.A =)
i apply it very very thinly, it gives a nice shine to lips and nails and if you apply sparingly it doesn't look too wet... if you want the wet look you keep applying thin layers drying in between...
Good thing is it air drys and i find it quick and easy to apply... once applied, my paper glaze doesn't take that long to dry either like i thought it may... give it a try then pick what you like the best... ? =) ~ Kaz ~

i found the same with the genesis glazing gel - no shine was achieved or so very very minimal that unless you knew it was there and to look hard you could see maybe a very very VERY slight difference to the area that i hadn't applied the glaze to.

baby tears/paper glaze seems to be the best i've found - and its just air dry, you also want to be sure you don't need to bake your pieces anymore though after the glaze is applied, they tend to bubble in the oven if you put it back in after having added your glaze or varnishes.

I usually use glazing gel, which must be baked. If you apply it without thinning it down at all, you will get a slight shine. I think that looks most natural. But sometimes if I am trying to make my babies' lips look wet, I use acrylic glaze that I have thinned down with water.

In terms of baking, both Genesis glazing gel and Genesis matte varnish must be baked. Aleene's and acrylic glazes should not be baked.
