I just finished painting and rooting my doll and i just noticed that i can see a bit of cracking in the paint.....WHAT THE?? whats happening...did i do the paint kayers to thick...can i stop this from getting worse. I just do paint layers..should i like use the ummm i cant remember the name of it but you use it like a finish thing after you paint the baby to stop it from being shiny...should i use that??
If you are using air dry paints I can only *guess* the paint is too thick. If you are using the Heat Set Paints the temp was either too low or not baked long enough.
I used the heat set paints. i think i might have used too much paint, they seem to be cracking around the face where the creases are...its odd, i dont know how to fix it as she is completed and all dressed up =(

You will have to completely take her apart and strip her. Her paint is not cured. Be sure to check the temperature of your oven with an oven thermometer that is separate (not just the one you set on the oven). Make sure you are baking internal washes (if you used any) for a full 10 minutes at 265 F. The same for external paints (each layer) for a full 8 minutes. If you opt to use a matte finish it also needs 10 minutes at 265. Going lower temperatures or less time will cause your paints not to cure. If you go longer you'll start to mess up the vinyl.
