I have some Secrist Genesis pre-mixed paints, but I need some help.
For example, if I try to using the "Veins" paint straight from the little jar (or even after stirring it on a palette), it's much too dark and thick. When I add paint thinner, after a bit, the paint starts to separate. If, instead, I try using some Thinning Medium, the paint gets gooey. So I've been going back to mixing my own vein paint.
I must be doing something incorrectly.
I'd appreciate any tips for using the pre-mixed "Vein" paint, in particular, to its best advantage, keeping the veins thin and light in color.
Hi Rosemarie, I am still using the premixed paints until I run out...but I have never used them in their original color...I always add colors even to the premixed. I had the same problem you did, I found them too dark, or just not the shade that I liked, so I just always tweeked them a little by adding this and that until I got what I wanted.
So I guess I didn't help with your question at all, because I do the same thing you do, LOL. Sorry.
Uh-oh!!! I just ordered the pre-mixed paints, I hope this doesn't happen to me. I don't have the answer either, but I'd love to hear what it might be. :)

I only had to add a dash of vein colour, and quite a lot of Odourless thinner, then only dip your brush in slightly, drag the brush along a paper towel, it wont be as dark =)
MissReborner- Dont Worry, Just try not to overload on the vein paint then you'll be fine =)
