I want to make Molly Lou a new dress based on the one I got at the fair... I thought I would ask here if anyone has a scrap bit of silk that they would not mind parting with - or some ribbons and lace.. I thought I would make her a lovely gown in a neutral/natural colour (white/cream/ivory/coffee/olive)... not pink! (pink free household!)...
I don't need a lot... about a fat quarter amount... long and skinny if needed... she is afterall, only 10" high!
Prefer someone in Aus please due to postage... We could swap a bracelet for some scraps?
I am not in Aus, but I have a cream colored silk shirt that you could cut up and reuse if you want. And I'd be happy to throw in some vintage lace and trims. Let me know if you are interested.
Heather, thank you for your offer! is the shirt the silk dupioni fabric? I've just realised that dupioni is the type of fabric I am really after... ('cause I don't know much about fabric!!)... if it is not, thanks for the offer, but I might wait a bit (I can go to the fabric store on the weekend if needed)...
I fell in love with some costumes at the doll fair and thought I would make some myself...
For those who dont know what Dupinoni silk is , it,s not a fine silk like lining but has a weave texture to it. The other fabric you are talking about is Shantung(not sure of spelling but that,s how it sounds) I,m not shour on how you get spell check. I have heaps of both but unfortunately, it has been packed away for three yrs in storage untill we get this house set up and organized.???????????//How long is anyones guess. But if I could just put my hands on it, I would be only to willing to send you some, if your not in a hurry.June M from OzThats the reason I haven,t been sewing for my babies or my new grandchildren
Hmmm, I have two silk shirts in need of recycling. One is a heavier one (like what you describe) and one is sandwashed silk, which is quite fine. If you want either, let me know.
