Where to buy Archival oils solvent??

I saw a little bottle at Dick Blicks for $7 something ..... but shipping was also $7 something!!  too much, I think.

Where do I go now?  I'm anxious to try this stuff.

Any help would be appreciated, Thank You!! I live in Kentucky. The Lexington and Frankfort area

I found chromaonline, but I think it's just information about their product. And ... they are in
Australia!!!! Shipping from there would be horrible!!! LOL

If the Dick Blick art studio sells them in the store, there is one near me! I'm just trying to figure out if I can put it in the mail! If so, I'd be happy to pick some up for you. I'd only charge the actual cost of shipping. But first we need to find out how to mail it and if we can, and second if they actually sell it in the store (it is about a 30+ minute drive but if it is as good as Naomi says, it would be well worth it. Especially if I can get some to someone else out of the trip!)

LovesDolls,

Your offer is too great to pass up!!! And I can't Thank You enough.

Let me know what you find out. I can't imagine why you could't mail it. They do!
I found stores listed in Indiana, Illinois and Ohio. But nothing close to me. Regarless of location, shipping is $7.95.

Online, they have bottles of 100ml & 500ml. I'd like to have a bottle of 500ml, if possible.

Of course I have a PayPal account, and can pay you in a minute!!!

Again ..... Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

the chroma online has a section where it lists their different distributors around the world including in america - i've entered the product details and asked for american stockest. Its given me 15 results *see link*

http://www.chromaonline.com/chroma/stockist/search?searchCountryID=208&searchStateID=-1&stockistType%5B%5D=0&searchRetailArray%5B%5D=AR&searchProductIDArray%5B%5D=2&Search=Search

as for postage i do know that solvents can't be sent by air and have to be transported by road... but maybe one of these suppliers is in a state near you.

the other option would be to grab your business phone book directory - look up art supplies and ring around some near you and ask if
a) they stock Achival odourless
b) if they can order it in for you if they don't

Naomi ... thanks for that link. I found CaroleRobbins ... she has a 500ml bottle for $15.95 and shipping was $5.00. I went ahead and ordered.

Loves Dolls, again thank you for your offer. Check it out for the heck of it!! I may take you up on your offer later on!!

For now, I patiently await the arrival of my Archival oil solvent. And hope it works well for me, cause I need all the help I can get, LOL.

Everyone, Thanks

Hugs,
ThorneWillow

You can send that kind of stuff in the mail. Secrist ships their odorless thinner all over the USA. I do know that you can not ship it out of the US though. Secrist usually ships UPS but I think you may be able to ship it USPS ground.

Could the rules be different for a regular person versus a company?  That is what I was wondering and couldn't find on the USPS website.  I was wondering if a business who had a business reason for selling something like that would be able to ship it but not the average person...

maybe it depends on the country, maybe its just an australian rule that excludes solvents being posted by air... it was one of the art shops here in perth that told me that they have to order by road trasport for solvents - this was when they were out of stock and bc they had to order from the eastern states and have it trasported by road that it would take up to 2 weeks, in the end they rung around their other shops in Perth and found me some.

As it turns out I won't be getting the solvent any time soon. I had forgotten about a couple of purchases I made and orfering the solvent would have put me in the red with my bank ... so I canceled my order. I'll have to wait till next month, darn it.

The solvent can be shipped using UPS or FedX, by ground only!!! It can't go in a plane. Maybe it would explode or something like that, I don't know.

But it is #1 on my priority list for next month and I will definately let y'all know my opinion :)

I just ordered 2- 500 ml bottles. With shipping and sales tax I paid $24.00 The store doesn't carry it. I would have probably spent as much money in gas driving there as I was going to pay in shipping cost anyway! If I really like it, next time I'll orer 3 or 4 bottles. The shipping cost doesn't go up until after I spend over $29.00.

If you live in the US and are interested this is where to find it:

My two bottles of the solvent arrived!  I'm so excited.  LOL.  I stripped my Jonas limbs to repaint hoping the new solvent keeps them from getting chalky looking!  I also stripped my 3 extra arms and legs from Secrist so I can practice various techniques on them.  My first will be doing a dark skinned baby!  I'd rather not have to strip Sparrow so I want to practice on the extra 1/4 limbs I have.

I've started! My husband is sitting right in front of the pieces I've painted and isn't saying a word about odor! We have a window open and the balcony door but I always open things when I'm painting. Anyhow, no smell. I'm curious to know if Naomi uses a heat gun or puts her babies in the oven. I'm afraid laying them on the towel is going to mess up the paint!

Tell me .... how did you mix it. How much Genesis to how much solvent. I tried last nite, but I know it wasn't mixed right. So I'm going to try again in a bit.

I used just a little solvent with the flesh. I used a bit more with the blushing (which is now baking). It doesn't need to be nearly as thin as with other solvents so you an actually see the color in the paint. I didn't do it as thick as acrylic paint comes from a bottle. LOL. I'm trying to think of something that is the equivalent and I can't think of anything! Naomi says she does it like yogurt. Mine is thinner than that...
