I have a question? I understand the process of rooting vinyl doll heads. I am curious after watching the " Art of Sculpting" DVD. How does one root the clay head after it is baked. Can this be done or do you have to use another method of applying hair to your reborn.
I think most people root the sculpted heads before they bake them. If you have already baked it, you can apply a thin layer pf clay to the head and root into that. Otherwise, many people use wigs on their sculpted babies.
Our Danielle Zweers is the main expert on sculpting here so hope she stops in to give her advice.
Heather is right for one type of rooting. If you have already baked your head, you can apply another layer of clay and root that, then bake. When rooting unbaked clay, you need to smooth your hole after each and every hair rooted. Time consuming I know.
Danielle suggests cutting a section of clay out of the scalp "before" baking, then adding it back in and rooting that and bake again. That way you don't moosh your face or ruine anything you just sculpted.
