I would like to introduce myself. My name is Billy and I am a puppet builder. I love building puppets but my overwhelming desire for soft sculpture dolls and reborning seems to be overtaking me at the moment. I do not know where to start. So I just jumped right in and started ordering all the DVD's, sclupting supplies and will soon be starting my first reborn doll. My goal is to master this technique and encorporate it into my puppet building. The goal is to make more realistic puppets, including infant puppets. I really admire the work of many here on this forum. I am a member of puppet forums but am new to the doll making process. I hope that each of you will help me understand better the art of reborning. As any art form it can be expensive but rewarding. I look foward to learning from each of you. Below is my baby picture. Sweet Baby/BDF
Welcome Billy! i love puppets but then I am a kindergarten teacher. Sounds like you are off to a pretty good start. I would personally recommend the DVDs . I found them to be helpful when I first started. I liked the advanced painting DVD best. I would like to try my hand at sculpting some day but need to get really good at reborning first. I have only been doing this since Nomember. Anyway, good luck to you. By the way, Pat Secrist of this doll company is a man!
Welcome Billy and Robie to our family forum! We are glad to have anyone here who wants to know, learn, and have fun (providing they can play nice with others lol). I hope you have read the rules (Billy, I see you have a pic AND an avatar, tisk tisk) as we post links only.
I am awaiting approval for an "Artists Showcase" topic heading where we CAN post pictures of our babies, done and in progress. We like to give people the "option" of looking at our photos or not (some have slow internet connections and some just don't want to look) so thus, the links only.
I and Danielle Zweers of the Netherlands are your forum moderators. Everyone here is very helpful and nice. It's a comfortable place to go and talk about dollies and other things (IMHO) :)
So welcome aboard and lets see what you have that we can help you with or you can share with us!

Sorry for the picture I did not read the rules ( I have since read them) I was going by your icons in the above text box that allows you to add pictures, you tube, etc. I moderate in other forums and do understand. Thank you for your kindness. If you could remove the picture I would appreciate it.
Several reasons behind the links only (except for the new Artist Showcase) are: some still have slower connections, give people the "choice" to look or not, and yes, it takes more bandwidth.
Hello Billy and Robie, You will recieve the best advice from these wonderful ladies on this forum, I,ve been reborning since nov 07 and have learnt a lot of things about this artform since finding the forum, by accident, as I am computer illiterate, they have tought me some exciting skills on that subject, that I never would have believed I could do on my own. As you have already perfected one skill with the puppets, you should have no problem doing reborns. Practice makes perfect and the Secrist Dolls are the best to reborn for beginners.June M from Oz.
