Hi!I´m glad to talk whit you again!

I bought 3 kits yesterday, baby Zoe, baby Grumdop and baby Sassy. I can´t wait they arrive home to start reborning them, but I have this question:
Do you recommend to open the nostrils or not?, and also the ayes when the baby is sleep: do you cut a little opening before root the eyelashes?
Thank you for your advice...!wink.gif

I sometimes open the nostrils. Other times I don't. If you decide to open them, make sure you do it before you start painting. I never cut the eyes open. The rooting needles have no trouble penetrating the vinyl.

Good luck on your kits!

I only open nostrils on dolls with shallow holes or if I mess up the painting on the inside of it.

Me too. I usually just shadow paint them so they "look" like they are open. (the nostrils I mean). As for the sleeping eye babies, Never cut the crease between the eyelids if you are going to "root" the lashes. That would be (and I never do that either) if you were going to glue eyelashes to the lids.

i open most of my nostrils by twisting a drill bit into the hole - but i never really cut out the area so there is a full opening, just a very very small opening.... in dolls with deep cavities i'll leave it and just paint and shade the nostril instead.

eyes --- i've never cut and never would, i have heard of ppl doing this in order to glue fake lashes in them. But one of the things i really like best about sleeping bubs is that you can root the eyelashes - hand rooted look so much more natural and real.

Ok thank you all...
Yes! I prefer not to open the nostrils but i really don´t know how to paint and shade them so it looks real? what colors i have to use? what´s the best way to shade the nostrils?
And about the eyes i also think it is a bad idea to cut them.
So please help me with the nostrils!! And sorry for asking so much but as you see, i´m a beginner!

To shade nostrils in, I take the color that I use for my creases and then add some brown. It seems to work out.

Yes, that works. Or I usually just use the crease color on my filbert (cats tongue) brush and it goes on very nicely.

It's ok if you ask questions! Thats why we're here. But you can also get information from our DVD's if you don't have them. :)

I've often used the blue of my veining colour in the very top of the nostril (where the membrain would be) at the same time i'm laying down the veining. Flesh tones then go over this and finally some red/blushing tones also. Adding some brown to the blushing tone also works nicely.

Dont open after painting i tried this and chipped paint off. but dont open before internal wash i also made this mistake and the blue paint ran into the nostrils giving a bruising effect.
So guys when do you open the nostrils? and what tools have people found to work best?

I open my nostrils after I'm finished baking the internal wash. I find it easiest to use just the drill bits (is that the right word?) but without the drill. I do it by hand. Start with the smallest you have and gradually work up to the size you want. I also hold a small face cloth over the mouth when I do this in case the drill slips. That way you don't scratch the lips.
