Lines around soles of feet and palms
Permalink

I'm following the Beginners Classroom DVD to paint my second doll. I have not painted the flesh colours on its palms or soles of its feet, but now I can see a line around its palms and soles of its feet where the flesh colour stops... how do I fix this, or prevent it happening in the future?

Sorry for all my questions lately blankstare... and thanks for your helpbiggrin!!!

Blessings,

Faye

How are you painting it? With a brush or a sponge? What I do is put on the blush wash with the painting then blot it with a makeup sponge that is DRY! This helps to blend it into the more fleshy tones that are in the sole of the feet and palms of the hands. Also, do layers. If it is dark it will be more noticeable!

I always paint the flesh color on the soles and palms and then blush over the top of the flesh color.

i second heathers comment above -- i paint my flesh tones everywhere, as i do my mottling. The i emphasise parts of the palm of the hand and sole of foot, to plump them out and add the georgous flush of colour to these areas

What color does eveyone use on the soles and palms? I just can't seem to find the right color I like. I tried painting the flesh on my hands and feet as well and I always seem to have the "pores" showing through too much and therefore making the soles look not natural.

I have been using the pre mixed Strawberries and cream it seems to turn out quite nice.
Do as all the others say and put on a couple of layers on the foot it is in a c shape and on the high points of the plams and on the tips of fingers. The tuturial on Rosie was a good example. XXXX June.

If you are going to put the flesh on the palms and soles, make sure you do it really thin. And you can blend it a little more. Palms and soles do not usually show as much detailed pigmentation (the tiny dots) as the rest of the body.
So give that a try, make it 1/2 or 1/4 the consistency of the rest of the body and blend it out just a little more.
