I live in New Zealand and I know it can be hard finding a reborning teacher downunder. Thank heavens for the Secrists DVDs, or I'd never have learnt how to do reborning!
Here's the link to a teacher in NSW that I spotted in an Australian doll magazine I read. I think she has weekend workshops:
hi faye thank you very much for your information i will take a look. i have a beginners dvd thats helped heaps but would love to go to a class that way i will make time to do it at home i seem to always have other stuff that need doin..
Ann where do you live? I'm in Perth, if by utter good luck you're on this side of Oz also i'd love to help out... but no one else ever seems to be here in the west LOL ... secretly i can't blame them, i'm not a fan of western australia myself!!!
Lyn is the only one I know of, but I am keeping my eyes open. There are a couple of artists who I'd love to go and visit at some stage so I can be mentored a little... though I'd have to buy a kit first.. haha!
on a serious note here are some classes in aussie the first one Kirsty Black i think is a secrist teacher but dont quote me on that I know she has alot to do with secrist though hope this helps ((hugs))) http://www.rebornaustralia.com/id26.html

Aust is such a big place though... who do we have here?
me in perth Tasreborner in tassie TinyEA - did you say your in QLD? JuneM form Oz - not sure where you are either June, i have a feeling you mentioned melbourne but i could be wrong and craftymum - also not sure where you are.
my point is i guess that we are very spread out... however it would be very cool to do.
Hi Everyone,Thanks for thinking about me, I live north of Gympie, about 2 1/2 hrs north of Brisbane the capital city of Queensland. I used to live on the Sunshine Coast but moved to the sticks, hoping for a quiter lifestyle. It,s very lonely when your used to sharing your time, patience and skills, I miss the classes, some times I,d have 17, doing dolls at various stages. I,d love to take this new skill of reborning and share it with all those friends. Most of them made award winning dolls because I couldn,t let them take home something that I wouldn,t be proud to show off myself. One of my ladies was 80 and won champion none professional doll of show. So if you live in Qld I,d be happy to show you what I have learnt. Five of them came from Brisbane once a week, because they had tried other teachers ther and weren,t happy. When I learn a bit more about this reborning ,I might be able to be a Secrist teacher. June M from Oz.
Vynettes lives near me , I get my kits from her, but I think a two day class is $300. I think it a little bit high if your just begining, as it doestn,t cost that much to paint and bake them. My other classes were $15 a day and that covered everything, except greenware, and it would take up to 10 hours in the kiln to fire and then 4 every time they were painted, they did have to buy eyes, lashes and wigs, but I didn,t make a business out of it. It just kept me sane.June M from Oz
Next time I come to brisbane you know where I am going, right?
For those that don't know me from the BB forums, I am Kristie. I live in Sydney. I just got back from a week up in Brisbane!!
I am a graphic designer and a mum. I want to get a reborn. Just one at this stage. Her name is picked out, her outfits are here (or being made!) and I will get her one day. Problem is, I have to sell some graphics to make some money to buy some kit stuff... *argh*
this is just a thought i understand alot of us are on shoestring budgets your not alone there Kristie believe me ,but what if we plan a reborn holiday we could make it next year sometime to give us all plenty of time to save money a weekend get away to somwhere reasonably central we could bring our own supplies etc and just share our tips ideas and freindship reborning for a long weekend maybe?

At the moment ,shoestring isn,the the flavour of the day, with fuel prices, interest increases and the cost of living, we all seem to have to buy streach shoe strings to be able to budget to keep doing our hobbies.June M from Oz

Where is the cheapest, most central part to where we all are, that is easy to get to and cheaply?
We could plan for a year ahead (winter 2009) and keep an eye out for jetstar cheap fares if we know when it is going to be :D I am sure I'll have a doll by then ;) (*bounces* I have custom trade!!! *breathes*)
As long as there is an oven wherever we stay, we'd be right,... right?
Once we get our house finished and because my husband can,t work anymore, we are looking at getting a caravan and 4x4 to travel. He used to demolish houses and driveour own tipper and bobcat, but before we get much older, we want to travel, just take it slow. We have a new plug in oven, that I sugested we take with us .That way I can do my own reborns as well make some fuel money by having lessons along the way. Meeting up and sharing our hobby would be great. No cost to us forum ladies. June M from Oz
gosh finding central isnt easy did you all know its cheaper to go to bali than visit each other in aussie! I have no idea on somwhere central anyone have any idea? gosh june i hope to see you if you come by this way hun it would be fantastic!

thats true about bali being cheaper than internal flights in Aust... hey maybe we could all go to bali for a reborning retreat -- alot of the bali flights include accomadation for 3-5 days too.
Hey TEA, I can,t keep up with you all no sooner I type a message and look back on the chatbox there,s a dozen more. Yeh, I,ve given up on the Idea of the house and showroom. I think it will have to be one on wheels. Then I,ll get some addresses and visit with my oven. First i,d like to take my husband back to Nth Ireland, He,s only been back once since he left in 1964. We meet in nov 65 had 2 dates xmas eve and new years eve and got married 13 days latter, 13.01.66.. But all being well we will be coming your way.June M
yayy!!! i will definetly look forward to this june! (((hugs))) gosh 40 years of marraige that is wonderful and its very rare to see these days bless both of you (((hugs0))

June - thats such a cute story of how you and your habby met and married... especially to be able to say it and still be married all these years later.
